This large-number fraction calculator operates through a series of precise steps, designed to safely handle very large integers without losing precision.
The Core Engine are using BigInt. When a user inputs a number, the string is parsed directly into a BigInt type, appending an n to the integer (e.g., 12345678901234567890n). This allows the engine to compute numbers scaling up to millions of digits, constrained only by the browser’s allocated memory.
1 Before any arithmetic operators are applied, both fractions are standardized into improper fractions. If the user inputs a mixed number consisting of a whole number (W), a numerator (N), and a denominator (D), the engine converts it using the following formula:

If the original whole number or fraction was negative, the resulting N improper is multiplied by -1. This standardization ensures that all subsequent operations only need to process two variables per fraction: a numerator and a denominator.
2 Once both inputs are normalized into N1D1 and N2D2, the calculator applies exact algebraic formulas based on the selected operator.
3 After the arithmetic operation yields a raw result, the fraction must be reduced to its simplest form.
The calculator achieves this by finding the Greatest Common Divisor (GCD) utilizing the Euclidean Algorithm natively adapted for BigInt. Once the GCD is isolated, the final simplified numerator and denominator are calculated.
